MGMP in a few words

The music of Transmissions is one of the biggest French Army orchestra. This orchestra is entirely composed of professional musicians, who are recruited on competition. It was created in 1949 at Mont-Valérien and it is now located at Versailles where it carries the symbol of the Transmissions field.

Under the supervision of the main conductor Philippe Kesmaecker, the assistant conductor Laurent Arandel and the drum major Marc Fromont, the music regularly participates to the big national patriotic events, with the presence of high state authority.

It performs abroad concerts and international festivals as well. Ambassador of France, it has participated in 2010, on the Red Square in Moscou, to the ceremonies commemorating the end of the Second World War. In 2011, the music of Transmissions represented France to the Tattoo festival of Sebastopol in Crimea and the Tattoo festival of Nanchang in popular china republic.

Based on a harmony orchestra, in which ceremonial instruments are found, the music of Transmissions also includes various chamber music ensembles (brass quintet, saxophone quartet, clarinet quartet, percussion group…).

The wide range of its repertoire (military music, classical music, jazz or popular music) contributes to the popularity of French music and attracts all kinds of audience.

Authentic link between the nation and its army, the music of Transmissions subtly combines the military rigor to the artistic sensibility.
